Those whose names appear on the list of eligible candidates will now go to schools.
Although getting listed as eligible has brought some relief, the protest demanding the full reinstatement of jobs will continue. On the other hand, those whose names did not appear on the list are warning of a stronger movement.
The list of eligible teachers has already reached the school headmasters.
As the lists are being distributed school by school, the teachers from the 2016 panel who have been deemed eligible are preparing to return to school following the Supreme Court’s directive. However, they have clearly stated that their protest will also continue.
On one hand, they will fight to save their jobs, and on the other hand, they will conduct classes according to the court’s orders.
They plan to take classes for a few days before the summer vacation starts on the 30th of this month.
Since Monday this week, the dismissed teachers have been protesting in front of the SSC building, demanding the publication of the lists of eligible and ineligible candidates along with the mirror image documents.
Due to their protest, the SSC Chairman and about 24 staff members were confined inside the SSC building for two days.
On Wednesday, after conditions were agreed upon, the SSC Chairman was released from the confinement because he had to attend a case regarding OMR sheets at the Kolkata High Court.
Although the Chairman was allowed to leave, the protesters made it clear that their movement would not stop.
The eligible candidates have found some comfort in the list’s publication but are heading to schools with lingering worries.
According to the Supreme Court’s directive, they can attend schools and receive salaries until December 31. However, they want their jobs back with full dignity, and therefore, they have declared that their movement will continue.
Meanwhile, those dismissed teachers whose names are missing from the eligibility list have intensified their agitation.
On Thursday, they protested in front of the SSC building, demanding answers as to why their names were left out.
There is now confusion about whether they will be allowed to join schools or receive salaries.
They claimed they had secured their jobs fairly and legally, and thus, they will continue their fight to get their jobs reinstated.
